Aluminum Fence Panel Racking

Aluminum fence panel racking means that a fence panel can adjust to the slope of your land. You can angle fence panels without stair stepping as with solid or steel and iron fences. Our rackable aluminum fence panels are better than solid panels because they allow for a secured fence run and a better looking smoother fence line going up the slopes or hills on your land. Racking an aluminum fence panel will keep the pickets pointing upward uniformly when angling the horizontal rails. You can use standard fence posts with racking panels, as the fence panel will slot into the pre-routed holes in the post. You can also use blank posts with angle brackets if you need the fence to angle even more. Some fence brands have universal angle brackets, while others have horizontal and vertical angle brackets.

Installing Fence on a Slope

Rackable fencing installed on an incline, decline, slope, or hill is available from our top national fence brands. All FenceTown aluminum fences can rack to some degree. The amount of racking depends on the fence brand. The chart below shows the standard racking per six foot fence panel. Certain fence manufacturers can double or triple punch the fence panels for added racking if more racking is needed. The punched space around the vertical pickets on the horizontal rails determines how much a fence panel can rack. Double or triple punching means the area around the pickets is cut or punched larger to allow extra racking. Examples of fence panel racking are in the photos below. Double Picket Fence Panel Racking

Aluminum fence panels with double the pickets can rack about half the standard panels. Double picket fence panels have picket spacing around 1.5 inches. Smaller picket spacing means the fence panels will only rack about 1-2 inches per six foot fence section. Fence panels with puppy or pet panels rack the same amount as double picket fence panels. Brands that offer double punching can add about  1 inch of extra racking to a double picket or pet panel fence.

Stair Stepping Fence

If your slope is more significant than our fence panel racking will allow, you may need to stair step the panels. Taller blank posts and angle brackets will allow you to stair step the panels to cover the slope. Attach the angle brackets to the fence panel and screw them into the blank post. You can also use straight brackets if you have 90 degree steps.

Ultra Fence Extra Racking

Ultra aluminum fence panel standard racking is from 0 to 6 inches per six foot wide panel.
Standard fence panel racking with a pet panel or short pickets is 0 to 3 inches.
