Common Fence Terms:

Delivery Fee: Trucking companies charge a fee to deliver to a residential address. If you provide a business shipping address with a loading dock, they will waive this fee. Delivery charges are separate from shipping charges. If your order qualifies for free shipping, there is generally a residential delivery charge on every order.

Back of Truck Freight: Your aluminum fence order arrives on a pallet with shrink wrapped boxes. The driver will move the pallet to the back of the truck and remove the shrink wrap. The customer is required to slide the boxes off the end of the truck. The driver does not have to help. Depending on the size of the order, it is good to have two people present during delivery. Posts are generally in individual boxes. Fence sections come 4-6 in a box and weigh about 20 lbs each.

Lift Gate: Your aluminum fence order arrives on a pallet with shrink wrapped boxes. The driver will move the pallet to the back of the truck onto a lift gate. The pallet will be lowered to the ground and left for the customer to unwrap.

Base Mounts: If you want to mount to a hard surface such as concrete or a deck. Standard base mounts will require the customer to cut the posts down and insert them into the base mount. Then use the provided screws to secure the base mount to the post. Some brands offer welded on base mounts where the post is pre-cut, and the manufacturer welds the base mount on the post for added strength. Per each manufacturer – Stand alone base mounts can be used for a fence up to 48 inches tall and welded base mounts up to 57 inches tall fence panels.

Fence Racking: This refers to the vertical angle a fence section can be adjusted when the ground follows a slope. Most brands have an option for double punching and triple punching, which will allow the fence panels to rack even more.

Quality: All FenceTown brands are generally the same in quality. All brands are powder coated and have the same picket and rail thickness. Beware of other online and store bought fence products – panels and posts might not be as thick walled as FenceTown fences.

Screwless Panel: Some brands have visible screws on one side of the fence panel. Other brands offer a screwless panel design where no screws are showing on the fence panels. These brands use small clips or a retention bar inside the horizontal rail where the pickets meet the rails to achieve a screwless fence panel. Screwless panels are available from recognized brands in residential and commercial grade.

General Info: Add a fence panel to the shopping cart to view all related items such as posts, gates, and accessories. Aluminum fence and railing posts come with the post cap. Fence posts have two feet extra in length to put into the ground. Gates come with self-closing hinges – and most brands offer a free latch. Aero and Specrail gate latches do not come with gates.
