Summit Aluminum Railing Post 66 Inches Tall – No Base Mount
This Gilpin aluminum railing post is 66 inches tall and does not have a welded on base mount. 66 inch tall posts can be used for the 36 or 42 inch tall Summit or Fairfield railing panels. The post is blank so you can use the wall mount brackets or angle brackets to attach the railing panels. Posts are 2.5 x 2.5 inches wide and are powder coated. Powder coating protects the aluminum from peeling or cracking over time. Posts should also be used for the top of the stairs. Longer posts should be used for the bottom of the stairs. You may need more room for the mounting brackets once the railing panels are racked at an angle. Once the railing panel has been secured to the post, you should trim down the excess post length and put the post cap back on. Posts are shipped in their own boxes and come with a post cap.
Install in the Ground or Core Drilling Posts
These railing posts are made to either go into a hole in the ground, or a core drilled hole in cement. Most customers use this post when their stairs end up in the grass or ground and there is no need for a welded base mount. When installing into the ground, you will have around 2 feet of the post to put in the hole and cement it in place. This post would can then be used on the 36H or 42H railing panels. You can also install this post by core drilling into the cement. Core drilling involves cutting into the cement, inserting the post, then cementing it in place.
